PM Modi congratulates Australian PM Anthony Albanese on re-election victory

New Delhi, May 3 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi today congratulated Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese for his resounding victory and re-election as Prime Minister.

In a post on X, PM Modi said he looks forward to working together with him to further deepen the India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and advance the shared vision for peace, stability and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific.

“Congratulations @AlboMP on your resounding victory and re-election as Prime Minister of Australia!

“This emphatic mandate indicates the enduring faith of the Australian people in your leadership.

“I look forward to working together to further deepen the India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and advance our shared vision for peace, stability and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific.”

Anthony Albanese has become the first Australian prime minister to win a second consecutive three-year term in two decades, in a dramatic comeback for his Labor Party in the general elections.

Peter Dutton, leader of the conservative Liberal Party, conceded defeat and the loss of his own seat.

Albanese pledged to steer the nation through a rough patch of global uncertainty.

“Australians have chosen to face global challenges the Australian way, looking after each other while building for the future,” he told supporters in Sydney. “We do not need to beg or borrow or copy from anywhere else. We do not seek our inspiration overseas. We find it right here in our values and in our people.”
