Tianjin/New Delhi, Aug 31 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping began their bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the SCO Summit here this morning.
The bilateral meeting with the Chinese President is the first engagement in Tianjin of PM Modi, who arrived here yesterday from Japan.
The meeting between the two leaders comes after their last meeting in Kazan, Russia, in October last year on the sidelines of the BRICS summit, when the two sides decided on disengagement of their troops at the border, and took further steps to mend relations.
The visit of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to New Delhi on August 18-19 and his meeting with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, led to the two sides announcing several initiatives to further mend ties, including moving forward on resolving the boundary question and on resuming border trade and flight connectivity.
