PM Modi arrives at Rio BRICS Summit, warmly welcomed by President Lula of Brazil

Rio de Janeiro/New Delhi, July 6 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at the venue of the 17th BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro today, and exchanged a warm hug with President Lula of Brazil, the host for this year’s leaders’ summit.

PM Modi thanked President Inacio Lula da Silva for hosting the BRICS Summit, and said the bloc is a powerful force for economic cooperation and global good.

“Grateful to President Lula for hosting this year’s BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro.

“BRICS remains a powerful force for economic cooperation and global good.”

The BRICS Summit is being held in the Museum of Modern Art in Brazil.

Earlier, on arrival at Rio de Janeiro last night, the PM had posted on X that he will take part in the BRICS Summit and later proceed to Brasília for a state visit on the invitation of President Lula.

“Hoping for a productive round of meetings and interactions during this visit.”

PM Modi’s presence at the Summit is important as India is set to chair the summit next year.

Key discussions during the summit are set to focus on world peace, global governance reforms, and collaborative solutions to pressing international challenges.
