Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee president Jeetu Patwari on Wednesday visited AIIMS Bhopal to meet the family of the six-year-old rape survivor and enquire about the child’s medical condition. Patwari held detailed discussions with the doctors regarding her treatment, security arrangements, and further medical requirements, assuring the family of every possible support from the Congress.

Several senior Congress leaders accompanied him, including former minister P.C. Sharma, MPCC media head Mukesh Nayak, former MP Mahila Congress chief Vibha Patel, senior leader Ravindra Sahu, Bhopal City Congress president Praveen Saxena, Bhopal Rural Congress president Anokhi Patel, former district Mahila Congress chief Santosh Kansana, senior leader Ashok Maran, state spokesperson Abhinav Barolia, former Youth Congress district president Abhishek Sharma, party leader Prakash Chouksey and Youth Congress vice-president Abhishek Parmar.

Expressing anguish, Patwari said the brutality inflicted on the child was “beyond words” and that “anyone committing such an act is not human but a monster”. He demanded the immediate arrest of the accused and the harshest punishment through a fast-track trial so that a strong message is delivered across society.

Patwari said the rising crimes against young girls in Madhya Pradesh had brought shame upon the State. “It appears as though the rule of law has completely collapsed. People no longer fear the police or the law, which is deeply worrying,” he remarked.

Lashing out at the Chief Minister and Home Minister, he criticised the government’s approach of merely transferring officials. Referring to the removal of the Raisen SP four days after the incident, he said this reflected a mindset focused on image management rather than genuine crime prevention. He warned that the transferred SP might soon resurface in another posting, calling it a pattern that indirectly shields wrongdoers.

Patwari demanded immediate arrest of the accused, formulation of a comprehensive women and child safety policy, and a review of daily incidents to draft a concrete action plan. “We are here to share the family’s pain,” he said. “This is not just one family’s suffering but the collective grief of Madhya Pradesh. The guilty must receive such severe punishment that no predator ever dares to look at a child again.”
