Patwari raises concerns over integrity of democratic process

Bhopal: As trends from the Bihar election emerged, Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee President Jeetu Patwari on Thursday expressed deep concern over the current state of India’s democracy and electoral system.

Patwari said the early indications from Bihar reflected both the people’s mandate and the impact of the SIR process. “Across the country, citizens are increasingly questioning how democracy will survive and how votes can be protected from theft. With the alleged collusion of the BJP, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Election Commission, narratives are crafted in advance and attempts are made to influence or capture the election. This is the greatest threat to democratic security,” he stated.

He added that every citizen has the right to a fair, transparent and credible electoral system, yet the situation is moving in the opposite direction. Technical irregularities, lack of transparency and political pressures, he said, have cast serious doubts on the election process.

Patwari emphasised that the Congress is committed to defending democracy at every level and is prepared to pursue all legal and democratic avenues to protect the sanctity of the vote. “Elections are not merely a contest of victory or defeat,” he concluded. “They are a matter of public trust and the nation’s future. If the vote is not secure, democracy cannot be secure.”
