Bhopal: State Congress president Jeetu Patwari has challenged the BJP government’s claim that Naxalism has been brought to a halt in Madhya Pradesh, stating that mere announcements do not amount to good governance and that ground realities tell a different story.
In a press statement, Patwari cited a series of incidents to question the state of law and order. He pointed to attacks on police personnel, including incidents inside police stations, and raised serious concern over the reported disappearance of Mauganj BJP MLA Pradeep Patel for nearly 30 days. He said it was alarming that even a ruling party legislator was allegedly not safe. Patwari also referred to cases of drugging and exploitation of minor girls in Bhopal, the repeated detection of drug factories in several districts, and the emergence of influential political names in criminal investigations. He added that concerns expressed by senior officials about administrative corruption further weakened the government’s claims.
Holding the Chief Minister, who also heads the Home Department, directly responsible, Patwari demanded clear answers on the missing MLA, action against organised crime and drugs, independent investigations, and transparency in toll-related decisions, asserting that people seek results, not rhetoric.
