Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee President Jeetu Patwari paid floral tributes to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her death anniversary and to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his birth anniversary at the Pradesh Congress Office on Thursday.
The ceremony was attended by several senior Congress leaders, including former minister Sajjan Singh Verma, MP Congress Media Department Chairman Mukesh Nayak, Organisation General Secretary Dr Sanjay Kamle, Organisation Vice-President Sukhdev Panse, Cells In-charge Mahendra Singh Chauhan, Madhya Pradesh Mahila Congress President Vibha Patel, Bhopal District Congress Committee President Praveen Saxena, and spokespersons Bhupendra Gupta, Ravi Saxena, Firoz Siddiqui, Vikram Choudhary, Roshni Yadav, Abhinav Baroliya, along with senior leader Anand Taran and a large number of party workers.
In his address, Patwari described Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as the architect of a modern, free, and united India. “Known globally as the Iron Man of India, Sardar Patel’s determination and decisiveness, along with Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s vision, played a historic role in unifying the nation,” he said. “Today, we pay homage to his immense contribution to India’s integrity.”
Paying tribute to Indira Gandhi, Patwari said she was known as the ‘Iron Lady of India’ at the global stage. “Her leadership, courage, and patriotism continue to inspire generations,” he remarked. Quoting her final speech, he added, “‘Every drop of my blood will serve this nation — that will be my greatest privilege.’ Her sacrifice remains a symbol of dedication to the country.”
Concluding his remarks, Patwari urged Congress workers to imbibe the ideals of both Sardar Patel and Indira Gandhi and work in harmony with the spirit of every Indian.
