Bhopal: Under the campaign “Vote Chor Gaddi Chhod” (Leave the Seat, Vote Thieves), Madhya Pradesh Congress president Jeetu Patwari received a historic welcome in Damoh today. The event was organised by the newly appointed Damoh District Congress Committee president Manak Patel and witnessed the participation of thousands of Congress workers and citizens. Streets across the city overflowed with people, with grand receptions held for Patwari at several points.

Addressing the gathering, Patwari launched a sharp attack on the BJP government. He alleged that Madhya Pradesh had become the state with the highest sale of intoxicants, leaving mothers and sisters to bear the worst consequences. Declaring his personal integrity, he stated: “I have never consumed even paan, gutkha, bidi or cigarette, let alone liquor. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, you and I can undergo a medical test. If any trace of intoxication is found in me, I will resign from politics.”

Patwari further warned the Chief Minister over farmers’ issues, saying: “I know where and how intoxicating substances like bhang are supplied. If farmers are not properly surveyed, compensated, provided insurance payments, and ensured timely availability of urea and DAP, then 25,000 farmers will storm your Assembly.”

Prominent leaders present included media department head and former minister Mukesh Nayak, MLAs Lakhan Ghanghoria and Harsh Yadav, district president Manak Patel, along with a host of senior Congress functionaries.

The massive rally sent a clear message that the people of Madhya Pradesh are disillusioned with the BJP and see Congress as the path to change.
