Patwari demands action over threat to Rahul Gandhi

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Congress president Jeetu Patwari on Sunday visited Nalchha (Agar) on the occasion of Navratri, where he offered prayers to Goddess Baglamukhi. He said he felt renewed energy and sought blessings for the wellbeing of all.

During his journey from Bhopal, Patwari received warm greetings from Congress workers at several points, which he said reflected the strength of the party’s organisation.

In his address, Patwari strongly condemned the remarks of Kerala BJP spokesperson Printu Mahadev, who allegedly issued a death threat to Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi during a televised debate. Calling it “an attack on constitutional democracy”, Patwari said such language sows seeds of hatred and violence in society.

He stressed that Rahul Gandhi has always raised the concerns of farmers, labourers, Dalits and tribals, and that his family’s sacrifices for the nation are well recognised in history. “Threats of this nature are proof of political failure,” Patwari remarked, adding that although the Kerala police had filed an FIR, central-level action was urgently needed.

He appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Ministry of Home Affairs to intervene immediately and ensure enhanced security for Rahul Gandhi.
