Bhopal: AIIMS Bhopal is offering advanced treatment options for patients suffering from ano-rectal disorders such as piles, fistula, fissures, and pilonidal sinus through Kshar Sutra therapy within its Ayush Department. Under the leadership of Prof. (Dr) Ajai Singh, Executive Director of AIIMS Bhopal, the hospital continues to prioritize the holistic health of the community by embracing an integrated health system.
Prof. Ajai Singh has been a fervent advocate for comprehensive healthcare services that combine modern and traditional medical practices. His vision has led to the adoption of Kshar Sutra therapy in the Ayurveda OPD at AIIMS Bhopal, significantly benefiting numerous patients.
Recently, a 32-year-old woman who came from Germany was successfully treated for fistula by Kshar Sutra method. Earlier, this woman had also undergone surgery twice in Germany but she could not recover completely. After not getting cured for a long time, she came to India in search of other methods of treatment and her search ended at the AYUSH department of AIIMS Bhopal. Sharing her experience of treatment, the patient said that fistula is treated by Kshar Sutra method only in India. I express my gratitude for getting better treatment here in AIIMS Bhopal. Treatment by Kshar Sutra method does take time but it does not cause any pain as compared to other methods of treatment. After the treatment which lasted for about 5 months, now I am going back to my country after getting completely cured.
A Traditional Solution with Modern Benefits
Kshar Sutra Therapy is a time-honoured Ayurvedic technique primarily used to treat fistula-in-ano and other ano-rectal disorders. This minimally invasive procedure employs a medicated thread (Kshar Sutra), coated with a special alkaline herbal paste, which is carefully introduced into the fistula tract. The therapy works by gradually cutting, draining, and healing the fistula tract through its continuous chemical action.
Professor Ajai Singh’s dedication to enhancing patient care through integrated health systems has made advanced treatments like Kshar Sutra therapy accessible to the people not only from India but abroad also, at AIIMS Bhopal, significantly improving patient outcomes and satisfaction.
