Hyderabad, Nov 11 (UNI) A major accident was averted in the early hours of Tuesday after a private travel bus caught fire on the Hyderabad–Vijayawada National Highway (NH-65) near Pittampalli in Chityal mandal of Nalgonda district.
All passengers on board managed to escape safely.
The bus, belonging to Vihari Travels, was carrying about 29 passengers from Hyderabad to Kandukur when the incident occurred.
According to police, flames were noticed shortly after the vehicle reached Pittampalli. The driver acted swiftly, pulling the bus over to the roadside and alerting the passengers, enabling everyone to disembark before the fire intensified.
Firefighters rushed to the spot upon receiving information and managed to douse the flames, but the vehicle had already been fully destroyed.
A case has been registered and an investigation is underway, police added.
