Incheon : India’s ace shuttler Parupalli Kashyap entered the Korea Open men’s singles semi-finals after beating former world no 2 Denmark’s Jan O Jorgensen, here on Friday. Kashyap outclassed his opponent Jorgensen 24-22 21-8 in a contest which lasted for 37 minutes. He had last played Jorgensen five years ago at the Denmark Open.
In the first game, the former world No 2 gave tough challenge to Indian shuttler. However, Kashyap showed his composure and won the game by 24-22. The 33-year-old shuttler came out with a solid performance in the second game and gave no chance to his rival. In the end, he won the second game by 21-8, sealing his spot in the semis.
This is Kashyap’s second semi-final of the season. Earlier, in March this year he had reached the last four at the India Open Super 500 tournament. The 2014 Commonwealth Games gold-medallist will now face two-time world champion Kento Momota of Japan on Saturday.
