Panorama Studios, Nivin Pauly ink Rs 100 crore multi-film deal

Los Angeles/ New Delhi, Jan 7 (UNI) India’s Panorama Studios has signed a landmark deal with Malayalam cinema star Nivin Pauly to produce a slate of Malayalam-language films with a cumulative budget of Rs 100 crore (USD 11.1 million), making it one of the largest collaborations in the history of Malayalam cinema, according to Variety.

The multi-film partnership will see Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak producing under Panorama Studios alongside Pauly, who will serve as both actor and producer. The slate will cover multiple genres and target audiences across India and internationally.

‘Panorama Studios’ has a strong track record producing commercially successful Hindi-language films, including the ‘Drishyam’, ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama’, and ‘Raid’ franchises, as well as ‘Shaitaan’.

The studio made its debut with Vishal Bhardwaj’s Omkara and has since accumulated more than 50 industry awards. Its current projects include Drishyam 3 in development.

Pauly is one of Malayalam cinema’s most bankable stars, known for choosing commercially viable projects across genres. He rose to fame with the 2012 romantic drama Thattathin Marayathu, followed by breakthrough performances in Bangalore Days and 1983 in 2014.

His 2015 coming-of-age drama Premam became one of the highest-grossing Malayalam films of all time. Other notable credits include Action Hero Biju, which he also produced under his banner Pauly Jr. Pictures, Kayamkulam Kochunni, and political satire Sakhavu.

Currently, Pauly is celebrating the success of supernatural comedy Sarvam Maya, which released on December 25 and has grossed over INR 100 crore worldwide, marking his first film to cross that milestone. Critics have hailed the film as a commercial comeback after a series of underperforming releases.

Pauly has won numerous accolades, including two Kerala State Film Awards, three Filmfare Awards South, two Kerala Film Critics Association Awards, and six SIIMA Awards.

The collaboration represents Panorama Studios’ strategic expansion into Malayalam-language cinema, positioning the studio to capitalize on the growing national and international market for South Indian films.

“Malayalam cinema has consistently set benchmarks for storytelling and performance-driven films,” said Kumar Mangat Pathak, chair of Panorama Studios.

“Partnering with Nivin Pauly, who represents credibility, talent, and mass connect, is a natural progression for Panorama Studios. This collaboration is our way of investing in meaningful cinema at scale and building long-term creative partnerships in the South,” as added by Variety.

Pauly added, “This collaboration with Panorama Studios is extremely exciting for me, both as an actor and as a producer. Their vision, scale, and commitment to quality cinema align perfectly with the kind of stories I want to be part of. Together, we aim to create films that are rooted, entertaining, and impactful.”

The partnership comes at a time when Malayalam cinema continues to expand beyond Kerala, with recent releases achieving success in Hindi-dubbed versions and theatrical runs across India, as reported by Variety.

The collaboration aims to leverage Panorama’s distribution network and production expertise with Pauly’s star power and script-selection acumen.

Details about the individual projects in the slate, including directors, writers, and release schedules, have not yet been disclosed.
