Dehradun. As part of his 25-year mission to promote road safety awareness and public health, Padma Shri awardee Prof. Dr B. K. S. Sanjay delivered a special lecture on road safety at Mizoram University. During his address, he stressed the urgent need to enhance public awareness regarding road safety, prevention of road accidents and the wider impact of safe practices on public health.
Dr Sanjay emphasised that road safety should not be viewed merely as a matter of traffic regulation, but as a significant public health issue that requires collective responsibility and sustained public awareness.
During his visit, Dr Sanjay paid a courtesy call on the Governor of Mizoram, General (Retd.) Dr Vijay Kumar Singh, and presented him with copies of his books on road safety and public health. The Governor appreciated Dr Sanjay’s long-standing dedication towards promoting road safety awareness and acknowledged the valuable contribution of his work in educating society on this vital issue.
The event was attended by university faculty members, research scholars and a large number of students. Interacting with the audience, Dr Sanjay encouraged young people to become ambassadors of road safety and actively spread awareness in their communities, noting that responsible behaviour on roads can save countless lives and contribute to a healthier society.
