Darbhanga, Oct 6 (UNI) All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi today announced that his party will contest four assembly seats in the Mithilanchal region of Bihar.
Addressing an election rally at Kumrauli village in the Jale constituency of Darbhanga district, Owaisi said that the AIMIM would contest from Darbhanga City, Jale, Keoti, and BISFI (Madhubani) assembly constituencies.
However, he did not reveal the names of the candidates.
Owaisi asserted that he was not in Bihar for himself, his son, or people from Hyderabad, but to raise his voice for the rights and representation of Bihar’s 19 percent Muslim population.
“We want more Muslim faces in the Assembly so that the issues of the Muslim community can be effectively raised and addressed,” he said.
Taking a dig at RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, Owaisi said that his party made every effort to include Tejashwi Yadav in an alliance, but he refused.
He said Yadav now will pay a heavy price for his arrogance.
Owaisi said that he came to Bihar from Hyderabad and no one can drive him out of Bihar.
Owaisi also remarked that if Tejashwi Yadav truly wants to stop the NDA from returning to power
in Bihar, he will have to “join hands with Owaisi.”
Criticising the Uttar Pradesh BJP government, Owaisi expressed concern over restrictions on expressing religious sentiments.
“In a country where Muslim elders fought for freedom and expelled the British, people are now being stopped from saying ‘I Love Muhammad.’
In Uttar Pradesh, posters with this slogan are being removed from houses by the government,” he said passionately.
He declared, “No one can stop Muslims living in India from saying ‘I Love Muhammad.’ We love Prophet Muhammad, and we love our country too. The world may end, but ‘I Love Muhammad’ will never be erased from the hearts of Muslims.”
Earlier, Owaisi received a grand welcome in Darbhanga.
