Bhopal: The Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company (MPMKVVCL) is rapidly advancing its smart meter installation under the Central Government’s Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS). To date, the company has successfully installed over 4.69 lakh smart meters across its operational areas, spanning 16 districts in the Bhopal, Narmadapuram, Gwalior, and Chambal divisions.
The highest concentration of installations is in the Bhopal City Circle, with over 2.64 lakh smart meters already operational.
Accurate billing and tariff benefits
The rollout is directly benefiting consumers by providing accurate and timely billing based on real-time data. Crucially, consumers with smart meters are now receiving a 20 percent discount on the day-time tariff, as mandated by the new tariff order. This discount applies to energy consumed between 9 AM and 5 PM.
MPMKVVCL reports high customer satisfaction, noting the meters ensure precise consumption measurement and improve overall energy efficiency. The company’s teams are working continuously to complete the installation drive within the stipulated timeframe.
