Bhopal: The Congress media department has launched a National Talent Hunt to identify and groom new spokespersons, drawing an overwhelming response from party workers across the State. The deadline for submission of applications was 28 February, and more than 1,700 forms have been received so far.
Speaking exclusively to Central Chronicle, State Congress Media Department in-charge Dr Mukesh Nayak said the response this year had far exceeded expectations. “Earlier, we used to receive around 100 applications. This time, more than 1,700 Congressmen have applied, which reflects the growing enthusiasm among party members to take on media responsibilities,” he said.
Dr Nayak further revealed that the applicants include IIT engineers, doctors and several other professionals from diverse fields. He described the participation of highly qualified individuals as a positive sign for strengthening the party’s communication strategy.
He added that the list of applicants would soon be shortlisted, after which a panel of senior Congress leaders will conduct interviews. The selected candidates will undergo specialised training by experienced party functionaries to effectively interact with the media and articulate the party’s position on key issues.
