New Delhi, Jan 4 (UNI) Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday praised the late Sushma Swaraj as a ‘strong opposition leader’ and a source of inspiration and said that all opposition leaders should learn from her working style.
Speaking after inaugurating the newly constructed working women’s hostel block, Sushma Bhawan, here Shah said, “It was Sushma ji, who exposed the Rs 12 lakh crore corruption of UPA-2.
He said that Sushma Swaraj will not only be remebered as a Foreign or Health Minister but also as a strong leader who exemplified the critical role of the Leader of Opposition in a democracy and ignited a nationwide movement for women empowerment.
The Home Minister said that all opposition leaders should learn from Sushma Swaraj’s working style.
“As the Minister of External Affairs in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government, she set a remarkable example by addressing people’s concerns with compassion and efficiency, leaving an indelible mark on Indian diplomacy, Shah said.
He stated that the NDMC has provided safe accommodation for approximately 500 working women through the construction of Sushma Bhawan.
The Home Minister said that the inauguration of this building is a significant step in highlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for urban development. Since assuming office in 2014, the government has laid a strong policy foundation for transforming India’s urban landscape.
Shah said the government had also addressed a significant policy gap by incorporating peri-urban villages—previously overlooked—into the urban development strategy, which has substantially reshaped cities over the past decade.
He also highlighted his government’s focus on e-governance, exemplified by the Smart Cities Mission, where 100 cities were identified for development using a data-driven approach.
