Opposition by BJP won’t stop us, Kejriwal will implement Pujari-Granthi Scheme: AAP

New Delhi, Jan 1 (UNI) The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday announced that despite BJP’s opposition, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will implement the Pujari-Granthi Samman Yojana after forming the government in the national capital.

Senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said on Wednesday, “Ever since we announced a monthly honorarium of Rs 18,000 for priests and Granthis, the BJP has been busy attacking Arvind Kejriwal.

On television channels, BJP spokespersons are yelling, asking why Imams aren’t being paid salaries and questioning the source of funds for the Pujari-Granthi, Singh claimed.

“They are hurling abuses on social media, making statements to the press, protesting, shouting, and screaming. Their spokespersons are yelling on TV channels, ‘Why not salaries for Maulanas? Why not salaries for Maulanas?,” he said.

Singh pointed out that during the Haryana elections, the BJP promised in its manifesto to increase the salaries of mosque Imams.

“In Haryana, the BJP increased the salaries of Imams by about 50 percent, and they now receive approximately Rs 16,000 per month. Meanwhile, in Delhi, when Arvind Kejriwal wants to give Rs 18,000 per month to pujaris, the BJP has opposed it,” he claimed.

“They are against giving Rs 18,000 to Granthis. They are shouting and screaming about it. Arvind Kejriwal himself is going for registrations, and our leaders are also personally helping with registrations,” Singh added.

“Why is the BJP so filled with hatred? Why do they harbor such animosity towards priests and Granthis? If they can pay Imams Rs 16,000 in Haryana, why are they troubled when Kejriwal proposes Rs 18,000 for priests and Granthis in Delhi? The entire nation is witnessing the BJP’s hateful politics,” Singh questioned.

The AAP leader further clarified that no matter how much the BJP opposes, Kejriwal is fully committed to implementing the scheme that guarantees Rs 18,000 per month for temple priests and Gurudwara Granthis in Delhi.

“BJP governs 22 states, yet they do not pay priests in any of them. If they want to compete with Kejriwal, they should declare an honorarium of Rs 18,000 for priests in all the states they rule,” Singh said.
