One dies, 8 seriously injured after bus carrying wedding party collides with truck in Lucknow

Lucknow, (UNI) A bus carrying members of a wedding party collided violently with a truck today evening, leaving one person dead and eight others seriously injured.

The accident occurred around 7 pm on Kisan Path in the Bijnor police station area.

The bus, travelling from Sultanpur to Etawah with 35 passengers on board, was severely damaged in the crash, as was the truck. Both vehicles had to be removed from the road with the help of a crane to clear the traffic jam that followed.

Upon receiving information about the incident, local police rushed to the spot and immediately transported the injured to Lok Bandhu Hospital.

Ram Ajor (76), one of the wedding guests, succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

The injured were identified as Sanjay Kumar, Laxman, Aditya, Adarsh, Suraj Yadav, Sushil Yadav, Sarvesh Yadav, and Vashu Yadav.

The Sarojini Nagar Control Room received the first distress call at 6:45 pm, with the caller reporting that several people were trapped after a bus-truck collision on the Outer Ring Road near Anoop Kheda.

Following instructions from the Chief Fire Officer of Lucknow, a fire service unit led by Officer-in-Charge Dharmpal Singh was dispatched immediately.

Upon arrival, the fire brigade found both vehicles badly damaged. The injured were safely evacuated and sent to nearby hospitals via ambulance.

Initial reports from the fire unit indicated that there were no fatalities at that moment, though later hospital updates confirmed one death.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
