Odisha CM felicitates India Men’s Hockey team members for clinching Bronze in Paris Olympics

Bhubaneswar, Aug 21 (UNI) The members of Indian Men’s Hockey team, which won bronze medal at the recently held Paris Olympics 2024 were felicitated at a grand function here in the iconic Kalinga Stadium.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi felicitated the team members for their outstanding achievement In the Paris Olympics.

The capital city witnessed a grand festival as the Indian Men’s hockey team players on their arrival at the Biju Patnaik International Airport, accorded a rousing reception.

The team members later joined a road show which commenced from the Biju Patnaik International airport to Kalinga Stadium passing through the busy thoroughfare of the capital city.

Odisha Sports Minister Suryavanshi Suraj accompanied the team members in the bus and hundreds of school students besides residents of the capital city were seen standing on both sides of the road to welcome the team members.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi met them individually at the Kalinga Stadium and felicitated them for bringing glory for the country clinching the Bronze medal in the Paris Olympics.

Majhi who had announced Rs15 lakh cash award for each team member, Rs.10lakh for each support staff, Rs.50 lakh for P R Sreejesh and Rs 4 crore for Odisha hockey star Amit Rohidas,presented the cash award at a special function this night in the Lokseva Bhawan.

Speaking on the occasion the Chief Minister said the state government will create grassroots-level infrastructure to promote sports across the state.

Majhi had already announced a further extension of Odisha’s sponsorship of Indian hockey until 2036, in view of the centenary celebration of formation of Odisha as a separate state.
