NSUI demands strict action over Jabalpur school bus mishap

Jabalpur: The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) national spokesperson, Viraj Yadav, has strongly condemned the serious school bus accident that occurred in the Rani Tal area of Jabalpur on Friday morning. The rear wheel of a Little Kingdom School bus detached and rolled nearly 100 metres away while over 20 children and teachers were on board. Thanks to the driver’s quick response, a major tragedy was averted. However, the incident has raised serious questions about the negligence of both the school management and the local administration regarding student safety.

In a written complaint to the Jabalpur Collector and the Regional Transport Officer (RTO), Yadav demanded strict action against those responsible. He stated that risking the lives of innocent children in such a manner was absolutely unacceptable.

Yadav also recalled a similar incident in Bhopal a few days earlier, where a SAM Global University bus lost a wheel while in motion, leaving several students injured. He criticised the authorities for their continued apathy, warning that such negligence only encourages further lapses in safety standards.

The NSUI has submitted four key demands to the administration: immediate technical inspection of all school and college buses in the district; cancellation of permits for unfit or uncertified vehicles; strict legal and disciplinary action against the negligent school management and officials; and the launch of a public monitoring drive to ensure the safety of schoolchildren.
