Indore, There are two good news of the launch of international flights from Devi Ahilya Airport, Indore. One, it has got the theoretical consent from the Central Government and second one is, the state government has decided to give the land free of charge for airport extension.
But the state government has to take an important decision – To prepare an alternative route for the Airport-Peethampur road, which is going to be closed. Its file is still stuck in Bhopal. As long as this decision is not taken – International flights from Indore cannot be started on a regular basis.
Lok Sabha Speaker and Indore MP Sumitra Mahajan has indicated in the meeting held at the airport that state government can allot the land free of charge for the expansion of Indore airport which is besides the Bijasan temple and the desired 20.84 acres of land which is currently at Airport-Peethampur route.
Tai said that she had a discussion with the officers but its official announcement will be made later. As it is known that in the past, the state government has sought rupees 24.78 crore lump sum and rupees 1.86 crore as an annual lease rent in lieu of this land.
The chairman of the Airport Authority of India wanted this land free of charge from the government. But for the regularity of international flights, the state government has yet to make a decision, to construct an alternative route just after occupying the Airport-Peethampur route.
The District Administration and Indore Development Authority have prepared a proposal and forwarded it to the Ministry of Urban Administration of the State government. It is proposed that the Super corridor should be expanded and linked with Dhar road.
For this, only 3 km of route is to be made, which will be linked via other side of Bijasan to Peethampur road in future.. IDA has named it Scheme 172. IDA is demanding this land from the government because it had given its high prized land for TCS and Infosys. With this extension of super corridor new alternative route will be made. It will form the base of an economic corridor which will be the link road for Mumbai-Delhi Industrial Corridor.
Special interest of CM and Tai
MP and speaker Sumitra Mahajan has a special interest for regular movement of international flights and expansion of Indore airport. She was constantly active and continued to play the role of bridge between state government, center and airport authority.
This important achievement in connection with Indore’s account in the context of assembly and Lok Sabha elections is a question of prestige for the Center and State Government. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan has also mentioned Indore’s Super corridor in his US visit. Decision for its extension will be the base for Indore Airport’s expansion.
Navbharat raised the issue
For the movement of international flights starting from Indore – by making it an issue, Navbharat has taken this topic from time to time and has attracted everyone’s attention. It is notable that the cargo was also started from Indore airport on the initiative of Navbharat.
The then Chief Secretary Revenue of Madhya Pradesh government Arun Pandey gave a directive letter to Airport Director Aryama Sanyal on July 31, in which it was pointed that the Airport Authority cannot close the existing route till the alternative route going to Peethampur way out of airport constructed. It is noteworthy that till then the airport also cannot be expanded. And if there is no extension, then the movement of international flights is also not possible on a regular basis.
