Notorious inmate flees from Hamidia Hospital

  • Evading custody despite life sentence

Bhopal: A notorious prisoner, serving a life sentence for rape and offenses under the POCSO Act, has brazenly escaped from Hamidia Hospital, Bhopal’s largest government medical facility, sending shockwaves through the police department. The accused, Amar alias Guddu, managed to evade an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) and flee while still in handcuffs, highlighting a significant security lapse.

The audacious escape occurred when Amar was taken to the hospital for an eye examination. It was during this visit that he cunningly outmaneuvered ASI Dinesh Kumar and absconded, despite being shackled. The escapee is a resident of Shanti Nagar in the city.

This incident marks a concerning déjà vu for ASI Dinesh, who had previously faced suspension after another prisoner escaped from his custody. His reinstatement and subsequent assignment to similar duties are now under scrutiny. In the wake of Amar’s escape, police have launched an extensive manhunt, conducting raids across various locations, including his residence in Shanti Nagar and other potential hideouts. However, as of now, the notorious inmate remains at large, intensifying the pressure on law enforcement to recapture the fugitive serving a sentence meant to last his entire life.
