Chennai, Sep 18 (UNI) Indian coach Gautam Gambhir, in his first test under the new role, on Wednesday said he did not take Bangladesh lightly, which is fresh from a historic first ever 2-0 series win over Pakistan recently.
Talking to reporters on the eve of the first test beginning at the Chepauk stadium on Thursday, he said he has been a very big believer that we fear no one, but we respect everyone.
“We don’t take any opposition lightly. That is what international cricket is all about. We respect Bangladesh and we will always respect any opposition”, he said.
“We’re going to go out there and play the brand of cricket what we want to play. We’re going to try and give everything possible on the cricket field because that is what champions say. They don’t look at the opposition. They try and control the game, they try and play the way they want to play the game”, Gambhir said.
He also said it is a very balanced Bangladesh team and it is a quality side and like any other international side to be honest.
But the important thing is that we want to turn out tomorrow and play a best cricket possible. And that is all that matters here.
Bangladesh has got some really quality cricketers, got the experience and also a very good bowling attack, he said.
He said the Indian team has enough firepower to take on the best in the world.
