New Delhi, Feb 20 (UNI) Marking one year in office, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday launched a sharp attack on previous governments, asserting that her administration stands for performance over publicity.
Addressing the media, the Chief Minister said her government has replaced “poster politics” with measurable outcomes and timeline-based governance.
She alleged that both the 15-year rule of the Congress and the 11-year tenure of the Aam Aadmi Party focused on advertisements rather than solutions.
She said the current administration is working on the principle of “less paperwork, more work,” adding that “tweet-and-delay” politics has ended and governance now operates under strict deadlines and accountability.
On Yamuna cleaning, Gupta claimed that previous governments failed to deliver tangible improvements despite repeated announcements.
She said her government has initiated sewage treatment plant upgradation, drain tapping and new pollution control projects to ensure concrete progress in river rejuvenation.
Targeting waste management practices of earlier regimes, she said landfill mountains grew due to inadequate processing capacity. The present government, she added, has significantly enhanced biomining capacity with a target to process daily waste on the same day.
On air pollution, the Chief Minister said while earlier administrations relied on slogans and press briefings, her government has adopted a scientific roadmap covering short-term, mid-term and long-term measures, which is now under implementation.
In the education sector, Gupta said previous governments prioritised publicity over structural reforms. She highlighted the implementation of a Fee Regulation Act to curb arbitrary fee hikes by private schools, stating that the move has provided relief to lakhs of parents.
On administrative functioning, she said the earlier culture of confrontation has been replaced with coordination and dialogue. The government, she added, has strengthened transparency through digital systems, financial discipline and institutional reforms.
Taking a swipe at former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Gupta alleged that compensation for families of government employees and doctors who died during COVID remained pending for years under the previous dispensation, and claimed that her government has cleared all such cases.
Expressing confidence about the future, the Chief Minister said that within one year, the direction of governance in the national capital has changed and asserted that Delhi is moving from “blame games” to accountability-driven administration.
