Nobody will be spared in Matey murder case: Kiren Rijiju

Itanagar, Dec 23 (UNI) Union Minister and Lok Sabha MP from Arunachal Pradesh, Kiren Rijiju said that Government and the security forces will not spare anyone found involved in the former MLA Yumsen Matey murder case, asserting that the ruling dispensation never compromises on safety, security of the nation and its people.

“We (Central Government) have taken Matey’s murder very seriously. Whoever is found guilty in Yumsen Matey murder will be given stringent punishment. Nobody will be spared,” Rijiju told reporters at the sidelines of an event in the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Arunachal Pradesh at Jote, about 30 km from here on Saturday.

Further citing that the NIA has taken action and identified all militants involved in the then MLA Tirong Aboh’s assassination who fled to Myanmar, and all the accused in former MP Wangcha Rajkumar murder case were arrested, the Union Minister iterated, “No one can escape in the Matey murder case”.

Further hinting at possible operations against the Matey killers, Rijiju stated that if needed, the Centre will help Arunachal government by deploying additional forces, while adding that, to carry out the operation, State Government’s cooperation is needed as local populations will be impacted.

The former Khonsa West MLA was gunned down by suspected Naga militants on December 16 at Raho village under Lazu circle in Tirap district along Indo-Myanmar border, where he had gone for some personal work.

Considering the gravity of the case, the Arunachal Government has decided to transfer the Yumsen Matey murder case to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to bring the culprits involved in the ghastly act to justice.
