Nitish announces financial support for Vikas Mitras and Education volunteers

Patna, Sep 21 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today announced a series of measures to strengthen the functioning of Vikas Mitras and education volunteers associated with welfare and literacy programs across the state.

In an announcement shared on X, Kumar wrote that under Bihar Mahadalit Vikas Mission, each Vikas Mitra will be provided a one-time financial assistance of Rs 25,000 to purchase tablets. The move is aimed at facilitating the maintenance of beneficiary data and easing other official responsibilities.

Their transport allowance has been raised from Rs 1,900 to Rs 2,500 per month, while the stationery allowance has been increased from Rs 900 to Rs 1,500. He said, “These enhanced provisions will help them in field visits as well as in the collection and preservation of documents.”

Kumar further added that in addition to this the education volunteers, including Talimi Markaz instructors working under the Akshar Anchal scheme, would receive Rs 10,000 each to buy smartphones for managing digital tasks. The annual allocation for teaching materials has also been revised upward from Rs 3,405 to Rs 6,000 per centre.

He highlighted that these steps would boost the morale of both Vikas Mitras and education volunteers, motivating them to carry out their duties with greater enthusiasm and efficiency.

Reiterating the state’s commitment, Minister Kumar noted, “Following the principle of development with justice, our government is continuously working for the upliftment of deprived sections of society.”
