Nine-month-old dies as e-rickshaw overturns in Chunabhatti

The child, Pratham, was thrown from his mother’s lap and suffered fatal injuries. Three others, including his mother and grandfather, were hurt.

According to the police, Shiv Kumar, a labourer living in Journalist Colony, Kolar, had hired an e-rickshaw for his family to attend an engagement ceremony in Kolar. His wife Surekha was carrying their infant son Pratham, while his father-in-law, Mohan Thakur, and several other passengers were also on board.

As the e-rickshaw proceeded through the Chuna Bhatti area, it collided with a parked vehicle. The impact caused the rickshaw to overturn, throwing passengers onto the road. The baby died on the spot. Surekha, Mohan Thakur, and another woman sustained injuries in the accident.

Police reached the site soon after receiving information, recovered the child’s body, and sent it for postmortem. The injured were taken for medical treatment.
