New Delhi Aug 29 (UNI) The National Investigation Agency (NIA) today said that they have arrested a key accused in the Muzaffarpur AK-47 rifle and ammunition seizure case.
Manjoor Khan alias Babu Bhai, was apprehended in connection with the illegal smuggling of sophisticated weapons from Nagaland to Bihar. A senior NIA official confirmed that Khan was a close associate of the prime accused, Vikash Kumar, who is alleged to be actively involved in the trafficking of prohibited bore weapons, including AK-47 rifles, with the intention to disrupt public peace and national security.
Investigations by the NIA, which took over the case in August 2024, revealed that Khan had conspired with co-accused individuals to smuggle these weapons to destabilize public safety.
The case originally stemmed from a seizure by the Fakuli police, where an AK-47 rifle, live ammunition, and a lens were recovered at Murghatiya Bridge. Four individuals were arrested, and charges were filed under the Arms Act.
After taking over the probe, NIA additionally filed the first supplementary chargesheet against the foursome – Vikash Kumar, Satyam Kumar, Devmani Rai, and Ahmad Ansari, under sections 120B of IPC and sections 13 & 18 of the UA(P) Act.
Further investigation into the matter is underway.
