Investment proposals of more than one and a half times the GSDP of MP received
– 22 lakh 50 thousand 657 crore rupees will be invested in state
– 14 lakh 51 thousand 468 people will get employment
Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh has set a new benchmark in investment proposals, marking a historic milestone at the Global Investors Summit (GIS). On the very first day of the summit, investors from across the globe flocked to the state, showering it with commitments that far exceeded expectations. A record-breaking Rs 22.5 lakh crore in investment proposals were received, far surpassing the previous highest by a substantial margin.
The scale of these proposals is staggering, totaling more than one and a half times the state’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP). For the 2023-24 financial year, Madhya Pradesh’s GSDP is pegged at Rs 13.63 lakh crore, which makes the investment proposals Rs 8.87 lakh crore more than the state’s total economic output. In addition to this extraordinary financial commitment, the investments are expected to generate 14.5 lakh new jobs, providing a much-needed boost to the state’s employment landscape.
Among the notable investors, the Adani Group has emerged as the frontrunner, pledging a colossal Rs 2.1 lakh crore across multiple sectors. This amount not only exceeds the investments from other entities but also surpasses more than half of Madhya Pradesh’s state budget for 2024-25, which stands at Rs 3.65 lakh crore. The investment proposals during this year’s GIS, held at the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya campus in Bhopal, have far outstripped previous events. While the GIS held in Indore in 2023 had set the prior record with Rs 15.24 lakh crore, this summit is poised to leave all previous editions far behind.
The biggest chunk of investment is in the New and Renewable Energy sector, which is set to receive Rs 5.21 lakh crore, accompanied by the creation of 1.46 lakh jobs. Other sectors are also seeing significant growth, with the DIPIP sector alone poised to generate over 3 lakh jobs, while Adani Group’s initiatives are set to provide employment to an estimated 1.2 lakh individuals.
