This vital project connects five districts across Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan: Bhopal, Sehore, Rajgarh, Jhalawar, and Kota. It is set to be crucial for both freight and passenger transport, improving rail connectivity and cutting travel time by three hours.
Economically, the new line will reduce coal transportation costs for the Kalisindh Thermal Power Plant in Jhalawar (Rajasthan). Additionally, this new route will be 42 km shorter than the Biaora-Jhalawar route, leading to savings in fuel and time. Local commuters will also benefit from easier access to the famous Kelkera Temple near Gatholi station.
A budget of ?1,255 crore has been allocated for the construction of 111 km of railway line and 12 stations within the Bhopal Division. The entire project is targeted for completion by December 2027, promising a significant boost to regional connectivity and development.
