Rio de Janeiro/New Delhi, July 7 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi today gave a new meaning to
BRICS saying it would mean ‘Building Resilience and Innovation for Cooperation and Sustainability.’
In his intervention on the second and concluding day of the 17th BRICS Summit at Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, the Prime Minister said that under India’s BRICS chairmanship next year, BRICS countries will continue to cooperate closely on all subjects and will work on redefining the grouping.
“Under India’s BRICS chairmanship next year, we will continue to cooperate closely on all subjects…we will work on redefining BRICS,’’ the Prime Minister said.
India will assume Chairmanship of BRICS next year.
BRICS would mean “Building Resilience and Innovation for Cooperation and Sustainability,” he said.
Just as during the chairmanship of G-20, India gave “breadth to the G-20, gave priority to the issues of the Global South in the agenda”, similarly, during the chairmanship of BRICS, India will take this forum forward in the spirit of people-centric and humanity first, he said.
