- Appointment of Judges Is Essential for Disposal of Pending Cases: CJ
Bhopal: Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has stated that access to justice is a legal right of every citizen of the country. Delivering timely justice to the litigant is the sole objective of the entire judicial system. Upholding this right, the state government is making every possible effort to ensure that every citizen in Madhya Pradesh has easy and accessible access to justice.
Dr. Yadav emphasized that timely justice is a vital social commitment, which everyone must sincerely uphold within their respective roles. He noted that Rewa has historically been a pioneer in judicial administration since the princely era, and today marks the beginning of a new chapter in that tradition.
Govt working to create a positive environment in dist courts
The Chief Minister reiterated that the state government is swiftly working to create a positive environment in district courts for all justice-seeking individuals. He further mentioned that in a historic move, the judiciary has symbolically removed the blindfold from the eyes of the statue of Lady Justice, indicating that justice will now be delivered with open eyes. This symbolizes a new era of open, fair, and aware justice.
Dr. Yadav said that deep respect for justice and judicial integrity is a hallmark of Indian identity. Protecting the rights of others, along with one’s own, is part of Indian culture. He congratulated the people of Rewa on the new, fully equipped court building and said it would become a center of faith for the protection of rights and interests of all citizens.
He also reminded that Rewa holds a proud tradition of justice. Lord Shri Ram spent 11 years of his exile in Chitrakoot, part of the Rewa region, sanctifying this land. His life continues to inspire the vision of “Ram Rajya” (ideal governance).
Supreme Court Judge Justice Shri Surya Kant praised the Madhya Pradesh government for its rapid development in all sectors. With the government’s active support, 30 new court buildings have been inaugurated. The Rewa court complex is equipped with all judicial infrastructure required to meet the needs of the next 50 years. He emphasized the importance of human values and an effective judiciary for impartial justice and national progress.
Supreme Court Justice Shri J.K. Maheshwari recalled the judicial contributions of Raja Vishwanath Singh of Rewa, who had established two courts: the Mitakshara Court based on Hindu traditions, and the Dharmasabha for religious matters. The new court building is a unique fusion of Bagheli architecture and modern design. He stated that the true spirit of the building will come alive only when it upholds compassion, wisdom, and justice.
Supreme Court Justice Shri Satish Chandra Sharma highlighted Rewa’s significant place in legal history, noting that personalities like Shri G.P. Singh (Chief Justice of High Court) and Justice J.S. Verma (Chief Justice of Supreme Court) hailed from this region. Many judges and advocates from Rewa have made remarkable contributions to the High Court and Supreme Court.
Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court Shri Suresh Kumar Kait applauded Chief Minister Dr. Yadav’s efforts in facilitating the construction of 30 new court buildings across the state. The grand new Rewa court complex houses 40 courtrooms and seating for 750 advocates. He stressed that while case volume in the High Court is high, the number of judges is low. Therefore, 32 new judges must be appointed to ensure speedy resolution of pending cases.
