New Delhi, Oct 3 (UNI) A new Kendriya Vidyalaya will soon open in North-East Delhi’s Khajuri Khas area to provide children of government employees living in the Trans-Yamuna region with high-quality education.
To make this possible, the Delhi government has provided the required land to the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS).
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the development and said that under his leadership, Kendriya Vidyalayas are being set up across the country, including Delhi. She added that they will strengthen the education system and help secure a bright future for millions of children.
The Chief Minister informed that KVS has decided to establish a new Kendriya Vidyalaya in the Trans-Yamuna area of Delhi, which will be located in Khajuri Khas (near Khajuri Khas Police Station, Sonia Vihar area) in the North-East Delhi parliamentary constituency.
According to the CM, the school is scheduled to commence academic sessions from 2025- 26.
Initially, it will run classes from Grade 1 to Grade 5, with a single section in each grade.
Arrangements for land and infrastructure have been completed by the concerned authorities, and the school has been approved by KVS.
The school will operate under the Civil Sector, with potential expansion in the coming years.
According to the Chief Minister’s Office, there are currently 46 Kendriya Vidyalayas functioning in Delhi.
CM Gupta emphasised that the Prime Minister has always believed quality education is the strongest pillar of a self-reliant India, and he focuses on making education a tool for holistic development rather than limiting it to textbooks.
She said that the PM’s vision of “equal opportunity, equal education, and equal resources for every child” is being realised through these schools, and this decision marks an important step towards inclusive development, social equality, and equal opportunities in education.
