Los Angeles, Nov 27 (UNI) As fans rushed to stream the highly anticipated premiere of ‘Stranger Things Season 5,’ Netflix reportedly faced widespread outages, leaving millions of viewers unable to access the platform.
The disruptions primarily affected users in the United States, with some reports of glitches in India as well.
According to the People, the platform crashed shortly after the first four episodes of the final season dropped at 5 pm on Wednesday, frustrating fans who had waited three years for the series’ conclusion.
Social media quickly filled with complaints, with one user posting on X, “Netflix Fix Yourself Right Now Bro, I’ve Been Waiting Three Years,” while another wrote, “Oh My God Netflix Pls Fix Yourself I Wanna Watch.”
Netflix confirmed that the issue was quickly resolved. A company spokesperson told People, “Some members briefly experienced an issue streaming on TV devices, but service recovered for all accounts within five minutes.”
The outage came just hours after series co-creator Ross Duffer shared on Instagram that Netflix had increased its server capacity, claiming a 30 percent bandwidth boost to prevent crashes.
‘Season 5’ marks the final chapter of the hit sci-fi series, set in fall 1987, following a smaller time jump from spring 1986 in Season 4. The last episodes follow the Hawkins crew as they confront the Upside Down one final time.
Returning cast members include Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Sadie Sink, Joe Keery, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, David Harbour, and Winona Ryder.
The season consists of eight episodes, with episodes 5, 6, and 7 scheduled for release on December 25, followed by the series finale on December 31, according to Netflix’s fan platform Tudum.
