Bhopal: The Congress Party has voiced serious national and civil security concerns regarding the installation of new smart meters across the country, including Madhya Pradesh. The meters are reportedly being deployed by a company whose owners and officials are of Pakistani origin.
In a strong protest on Monday, Congress party members gheraoed the divisional office of the Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company Limited Office at 2nd Number Stop. They submitted a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, demanding an immediate investigation and appropriate action.
The party criticized the ruling BJP’s “Swadeshi” (indigenous) slogan, accusing the government of hypocrisy by awarding the tender to a foreign-owned company. The Congress leadership stated that this decision not only jeopardizes national security but also amounts to a “blatant loot of citizens” by favoring a Pakistani firm. The party called for the government to cancel the contract and address the security implications of having critical infrastructure managed by foreign entities.
