Multiple arrests made in Manipur during coordinated anti-drug and arms operations

Imphal, Aug 28 (UNI) Security forces and Manipur Police launched a series of coordinated operations across the state, resulting in the arrest of several drug smugglers and extortionists, along with significant seizures of narcotics, vehicles, and cash on Wednesday.

In Churachandpur district, security forces arrested Kaigunlal Haokip of Ebenezer village, Dalzagin of Behiang village, and Seigoulal Haokip of Zolzam village. The arrests were made in Behiang and Bualkot villages. Authorities recovered 56 soap cases suspected to contain heroin No. 4, weighing approximately 728 grams, along with three vehicles and three mobile phones from their posession.

In a separate operation, Manipur Police apprehended two drug smugglers identified as S. Davihai Mikrii of Senapati and Ngaoloni of Tadubi, Senapati from Jail Road, Old Lambulane under Imphal Police Station in Imphal West district. Seized items included 30 soap cases containing brown sugar weighing 341 grams, two Aadhaar cards, one driving license, three mobile phones, and two four-wheelers.

Security forces apprehended Md. Yunush Khan of Irong Chesaba Mayai Leikai near Martyr’s Park under Mao Police Station, Senapati district. From his possession, officials seized 92 packages of suspected WY tablets weighing 2.202 kilogram.

Police arrested Md. Azad Khan of Sangaiyumpham Mairenkhun Mayai Leikai, Thoubal district, from his residence. Seized materials included 900 ml of codeine syrup, 12 grams of brown sugar, 20 grams of methamphetamine, cash amounting to Rs1,46,550, and two mobile phones.

In another operation one V. Shiva at Ishwar Pandey of Moreh Ward No.4 was arrested for his alleged involvement in extortion of transporters, businessmen, and commercial establishments, as well as for smuggling and supplying arms to miscreants in Moreh.

In another development, security forces a militant from his residence at Itham Wangma Mayai Leikai under Thoubal Dam Police Station, Imphal East district. A mobile phone was recovered from him.
