Mukesh Ambani To Visit Samsung Plant Next Week, Reports South Korean Daily

Mumbai, Nov 20 (UNI) South Korea-based ‘The Korea Economic Daily’ has reported that Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) Chairman Mukesh Ambani and his eldest son Akash Ambani are scheduled to visit a Samsung plant in South Korea next week.

Mukesh Ambani and his son Akash Ambani, who is the chairman and chief of the board of directors of Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd, are scheduled to visit South Korea on November 25 on a two-day trip, where they will tour Samsung’s Suwon complex with the Samsung chairman Lee Jae-yong, according to the report.

They are also scheduled to inspect Samsung’s production lines for 5G equipment and early-stage 6G development, the Korean business newspaper reported on Wednesday.

Significantly, this will be their first time to visit a Samsung site, which South Korean industry executives say signals the possibility of follow-on commercial deals.

The two Indian business leaders will then move to Seoul for a private dinner with Samsung chairman Lee Jae-yong, joined by the head of Samsung’s networks division, which competes globally with Huawei, Ericsson and Nokia, according to the report.

Reliance has long been one of Samsung’s most important overseas telecom clients.

Since 2012, the Indian conglomerate has invested about 40 trillion won (USD 27.3 billion) to roll out a nationwide 4G LTE network, with Samsung serving for more than a decade as its sole equipment supplier.

Samsung chairman Lee Jae-yong Lee has cultivated unusually close ties with Ambani’s family, being the only Korean business leader invited to all three of the Reliance heirs’ highly publicised weddings.

Lee had appeared in a traditional Indian turban at Akash Ambani’s 2019 wedding ceremony.
