MP Waqf Board issues Eid advisory

  • Focus on respectful practices for sacrifice and prayer

Bhopal – Ahead of the upcoming Eid al-Adha celebrations, the Madhya Pradesh Waqf Board has released an advisory urging the Muslim community to observe key guidelines regarding sacrifice (Qurbani) and prayers (Namaz). The aim is to ensure a respectful and harmonious observance of the festival, while also preventing any unintended sensitivities.

Key directives for a harmonious Eid

The advisory specifically urges individuals to refrain from sharing videos, audio, or photos of the Qurbani on the internet or social media. This recommendation comes as many smart phone users, in their enthusiasm, tend to post such content, which can inadvertently upset or offend others.

Furthermore, the board has advised that Eid prayers should be performed strictly within Eidgahs or mosque premises, emphasizing against open-air congregations.

Other crucial points highlighted in the advisory include:
* Strictly avoid sacrificing prohibited animals under any circumstances, adhering completely to government regulations.
* Keep the Qurbani area enclosed with walls or tin sheds to maintain privacy.
* Ensure proper sanitation at sacrifice locations by spraying necessary disinfectants and prioritizing cleanliness as a religious and moral duty.
* Dispose of unusable animal parts responsibly by placing them in designated containers provided by the municipal corporation/council or at selected disposal sites.
* Transport the sacrificial animal to the designated Qurbani spot and ensure it is properly covered during transit.
The Waqf Board periodically issues such advisories for major Islamic festivals like Eid al-Adha to guide the community in adhering to religious tenets while also respecting public sentiments and maintaining social harmony.
