MP team beats Punjab 4-1

  • 36th All India Postal Hockey Competition
  • MP will face Odisha in the semi-finals

In the match played on the third day of the 36th All India Postal Hockey Competition being played at the Major Dhyanchand Stadium in the capital Bhopal, Karnataka defeated Odisha 7-1 and Madhya Pradesh defeated Punjab 1.

On Wednesday, the first match was played between Kotak and Odisha, in which Karnataka won 7-1 and reached the semi-finals.

The second match was played between Madhya Pradesh and Punjab in which Asad Kamaal of MP scored the first goal in the 60th minute of the match. In the 19th minute of the game, Mohammad Umar of MP put the ball directly in the goalpost. After this, in the 21st and 26th minutes, Izhar Qureshi and Mohammad Umar of MP scored one goal each and gave their team a 4-0 lead. Punjab team player Harjinder Atti scored a direct goal. In this way, MP defeated Punjab 4-1. Man of the Match award for the first match was given to Vinayak Bijwad of Karnataka, in the second match which was played between Madhya Pradesh and Punjab, Man of the Match was Mohammad Sahir of Madhya Pradesh.
