MP Police Tightens Net on Illegal Gambling During Diwali: Massive Crackdown Nets Rs 65.31 Lakh Cash, Crores in Assets

Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh Police has launched a comprehensive, state-wide operation against illegal gambling and betting networks, aiming to ensure a safe and disciplined social environment during the Diwali festivities. This aggressive campaign has resulted in the arrest of hundreds of suspects and the seizure of cash and property worth crores.

High-Value Seizures across Multiple Districts

Police teams have successfully confiscated Rs 60,78,925 in cash, along with mobile phones, four-wheelers, two-wheelers, and other gambling paraphernalia. Key actions include:

Vidisha: Police seized Rs 22.22 lakh worth of illicit goods, including cash, a car, and a scooter.

Chhindwara (Navegaon): A raid on a gambling den in a forest area recovered assets worth Rs 9.67 lakh.

Anuppur (Bijuri): Rs 6.10 lakh in cash was recovered, curbing the illegal activities.

Sehore (Bhairunda): Rs 5.25 lakh was seized, and 17 gamblers were arrested.

Joint operations in Chhatarpur, Rajgarh, Mandsaur, and Gwalior also yielded seizures exceeding Rs 12 lakh. Numerous arrests were additionally made in Jabalpur, Narsinghpur, Tikamgarh, and other districts.

Zero Tolerance for Illegal Activities

Director General of Police Kailash Makwana affirmed the police’s resolve to maintain peace and order, stating that no perpetrators of illegal gambling would be spared. He instructed all district superintendents to continue the crackdown and launch public awareness campaigns to deter citizens from such illicit activities.
