MP Police statewide crackdown on illegal cattle trafficking

Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh Police have achieved significant success in a statewide अभियान against illegal cattle and animal trafficking, rescuing 96 cattle and 38 other animals so far this month. Several vehicles used for trafficking have also been seized following coordinated, intelligence-led and technology-enabled operations.

Key operations include:

Seoni: Kotwali police rescued a total of 63 cattle in two separate operations involving vehicles. Two accused were arrested, and a truck and a container were seized.

Khandwa: Pandhana police seized 17 animals—two cattle and 15 calves—along with three pickup vehicles. The animals are valued at approximately Rs 8 lakh.

Shivpuri: Badarwas police recovered 23 buffaloes being illegally transported in an Eicher truck, with an estimated value of Rs 29 lakh. The truck was seized and two accused were arrested.

Betul: Multai police rescued eight cattle and arrested four accused.

Khargone: In two cases, police seized three pickup vehicles valued at around Rs 20 lakh and rescued 18 cattle.

Ujjain: Ingoria police seized a vehicle worth Rs 15 lakh used for cattle trafficking and illegal liquor transport, and rescued five cattle.

Reiterating its commitment to the protection of cattle, the Madhya Pradesh Police stated that no illegal activity against livestock would be tolerated in the state. The police have appealed to the public to report any information related to cattle trafficking to the nearest police station or by dialling 112.
