MP Police seizes 34 firearms in 2 weeks

Bhopal: In a sustained and coordinated drive to strengthen law and order and reinforce public safety, the Madhya Pradesh Police have intensified action against the manufacture, storage, transport and use of illegal weapons across the state. Over the past two weeks, police operations in multiple districts have led to the seizure of 34 firearms, live ammunition, vehicles and other incriminating material, while several accused linked to serious criminal activities and interstate gangs have been arrested.

In Gwalior, the STF unit arrested two suspects from the Shivpuri area, recovering three pistols and four live rounds. Acting against the source of illegal arms, Shivpuri police raided an illicit weapon-manufacturing unit in the Karera police station area, arresting two accused and seizing seven illegal firearms, five live cartridges and machinery worth around Rs 2 lakh.

In Barwani district, Julwania police apprehended five interstate criminals returning from Maharashtra, recovering firearms, ammunition, jewellery, cash and valuables worth over Rs 38.91 lakh. Similar actions in other districts resulted in the seizure of additional weapons. The police reiterated their zero-tolerance policy against illegal arms and organised crime.
