Bhopal: While maintaining law and order and controlling crime remain its core responsibilities, the Madhya Pradesh Police continue to demonstrate a strong commitment to public service and citizen welfare. In two heartening incidents from Shujalpur in Shajapur district and Sagar district, prompt and sensitive police action brought immense relief to affected families, vividly reflecting the force’s motto of “Deshbhakti–Janseva” (Patriotism and Public Service).
In Shujalpur Mandi, a Class III student, Cherry Nayak, accidentally left her school bag — containing notebooks prepared through a year of hard work — in an autorickshaw. Seeing the child distressed, the Shujalpur Mandi police treated the matter with utmost seriousness. Acting under the guidance of SDOP Nimish Deshmukh, a special team was constituted. Assistant Sub-Inspector Dharmendra Paraste and Head Constable Sunil Gurjar meticulously examined hundreds of CCTV footage clips to trace the autorickshaw. The driver, Parvez, was eventually identified and located. After being counselled by the police and moved by the child’s emotions, the driver returned the bag. When the bag was handed back within 24 hours, Cherry’s joy was unmistakable as she smiled and said, “Thank you, police uncle.”
In another compassionate initiative, Sagar police helped safeguard the future of a young man from Uttar Pradesh who had come to the district for an Army recruitment process. He lost his bag containing crucial documents in an autorickshaw. Demonstrating digital alertness, Sub-Inspector R.K.S. Chauhan of the Sagar Police Control Room circulated details and photographs through social media and WhatsApp groups. The autorickshaw driver soon came forward and handed over the bag. With assistance from Banda (UP) police and village head Gayatri Singh, the youth was traced and his documents returned, bringing tears of relief to his eyes.
The Madhya Pradesh Police have appealed to citizens to remain vigilant about their belongings while travelling or shopping and to promptly contact the nearest police station or dial 112 in case of any emergency or need for assistance.
