MP pioneering a new era in renewable energy: CM

Bhopal: Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that to achieve a net-zero carbon footprint in the country by 2070 and find alternatives to depleting fossil fuels, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has set an ambitious target of producing 500 gigawatts of renewable energy by 2030. Madhya Pradesh is contributing with full dedication and commitment to achieving this national goal. He highlighted that in the past 12 years, the state has witnessed an unprecedented 14% growth in the renewable energy sector, increasing its share in total energy production to over 30%.

Due to Madhya Pradesh’s Renewable Energy Policy at GIS-Bhopal, the state has received significant investment proposals in the renewable energy sector. PM Modi acknowledged India’s tremendous progress in the energy sector over the past decade during the inauguration of GIS-Bhopal.

Rewa and Omkareshwar: Emerging Green Energy Hubs

Prime Minister Modi, in his address at the GIS inauguration, highlighted that Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa Solar Park is among the largest solar parks in the country. Additionally, India’s largest floating solar power plant was recently inaugurated in Omkareshwar, marking a new milestone in renewable energy production.

Dr. Yadav stated that due to its geographical location and abundant natural resources, Madhya Pradesh is one of India’s leading power-surplus states. The state government is continuously working towards environmental conservation and energy self-sufficiency, prioritizing renewable energy expansion.

India’s First Technology-Agnostic Renewable Energy Policy

Madhya Pradesh is the first state in India to implement a Technology-Agnostic Renewable Energy Policy. This policy provides investors with flexible and favorable opportunities to boost solar and wind energy, creating new dimensions in the energy sector.

In a historic step towards environmental conservation and the promotion of renewable energy, Sanchi is being developed as the state’s first solar city. It will be based on the “Net Zero Carbon” principle, where the energy consumed will be equivalent to the green energy produced. This project will serve as an inspiring model for the country and the world.
