Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh has recorded significant progress in tackling cyber financial fraud, with police data showing marked improvement in freezing defrauded funds during 2025. According to official figures, as many as 55,659 complaints related to cyber financial fraud were received in 2025. Acting swiftly on these complaints, the police succeeded in holding more than Rs 137 crore out of a total defrauded amount of Rs 581 crore.

In comparison, 58,643 such complaints were registered in 2024, during which only around Rs 47 crore could be held. As a result of sustained efforts and improved coordination, Madhya Pradesh has climbed from 22nd position in 2024 to sixth place nationally in freezing or holding fraud amounts, following Haryana, Tripura, Gujarat, Delhi and Rajasthan.

The improvement has been driven by multiple initiatives undertaken by the state cyber police and district police units. Between 2017 and 2025, over 26,200 online and offline cyber awareness programmes were organised, reaching more than 21 crore citizens. Special campaigns such as the “SAFE CLICK” Cyber Awareness Campaign and the National Cyber Security Awareness Month in October 2025 further expanded public outreach.

Institutional measures included the upgradation of the Cyber Helpline 1930, formation of the State Cyber Financial Management Cell (SCFMC), deployment of officers at the Cyber Fraud Mitigation Centre in New Delhi, and the creation of District Cyber Task Forces. Targeted operations such as Operation NAYAN, Operation FAST and Operation MATRIX also led to legal action against cyber offenders, mule account holders and fake SIM networks.

These combined efforts underline the state’s growing capacity to prevent cyber fraud and protect citizens’ financial interests.
