MP Government employees launch postcard campaign

  • Demanding promotions

Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh Karmachari Manch (Employee Forum) has launched a postcard campaign addressed to the Chief Minister, demanding immediate government orders to resume long-pending employee promotions.

According to Ashok Pandey, State President of the forum, government employees in Madhya Pradesh have been denied promotions for the last nine years. As a result, nearly 1.5 lakh employees have retired without ever receiving a promotion. Despite Chief Minister’s assurance in April that promotion orders would be issued soon, no action has followed even after a month—leading to growing frustration among over 7.5 lakh state employees.

Pandey emphasized that there are no court orders or departmental restrictions from the Supreme Court, High Court, or the General Administration Department that justify this continued freeze. Yet, an unofficial halt on promotions has persisted for nearly a decade.

In protest, the Employee Forum has initiated a statewide postcard movement across all 55 districts, urging the Chief Minister to issue orders that grant promotion benefits to eligible employees. The campaign, which began this week, will run until May 30, 2025, with a target of sending one lakh postcards to the Chief Minister’s office.

The campaign aims to draw attention to the long-standing administrative delay and restore career advancement opportunities for thousands of deserving government staff across the state.
