MP Cong to observe Gandhi’s Martyrdom Anniversary

Bhopal: On the 78th anniversary of the martyrdom of Mahatma Gandhi, the Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee’s Freedom Fighters’ Families Cell will organise a Martyrs’ Remembrance Meeting and Tribute Ceremony. Providing details, Cell president Ajay Narayan Sitalani said the programme will be held on January 29, 2026, at 11 am at the auditorium of the Pradesh Congress headquarters, Indira Bhawan, Shivaji Nagar, Bhopal.

Family members of freedom fighters, Veeranganas, Gandhian thinkers, social workers and distinguished guests from across the state will attend. The event aims to honour martyrs who sacrificed their lives for India’s freedom, strengthen the values of national unity, integrity and communal harmony, and express gratitude towards martyrs’ families.

The programme will be presided over by 117-year-old freedom fighter Swami Lekhraj Singh, with 100-year-old freedom fighter Pandurang Ganpat Shinde as the special guest. Former minister Sajjan Singh Verma will also be present.

Additionally, a Sadbhavana Yatra (harmony march) will be organised on January 30, 2026, to spread Gandhiji’s message of non-violence, truth and social harmony. The Congress has appealed to citizens, social organisations, intellectuals and youth to participate and pay homage to the martyrs.
