MP Cong flays BJP Govt over urban mismanagement and health crisis

Bhopal: Senior Congress leaders launched a sharp attack on the BJP-led Madhya Pradesh government, accusing it of gross failure in urban development, rampant corruption and a collapse of the public health system. Addressing a joint press conference at the Pradesh Congress office, former urban administration and housing minister Jaivardhan Singh and All India Adivasi Congress president Vikrant Bhuria described the government’s two-year tenure as “directionless and dangerous”.

Jaivardhan Singh alleged that urban bodies had been systematically weakened, development projects stalled and employment opportunities lost. He said the state had failed to produce updated master plans for cities, leaving even major urban centres such as Bhopal and Indore plagued by mismanagement. Citing examples, he termed the sharp 90-degree turn at the Subhash Nagar flyover, repeated bridge collapses in Raisen, and flawed metro designs as symbols of “lethal corruption and poor engineering”.

Vikrant Bhuria focused on the health crisis, particularly the Satna incident where children were allegedly given HIV-infected blood. Calling it a “criminal failure”, he said lax screening, delayed disclosure and weak oversight had pushed poor families into lifelong medical and social hardship.

The leaders demanded suspension of responsible officials, criminal action, compensation and free lifelong treatment for affected children, blacklisting of errant contractors, recovery of excess project costs, and independent audits to restore accountability.
